The GSB Foundation is an independent trust registered in South Africa. It is the sole entity governing the GSB Endowment Fund and related donations, in close collaboration with the GSB and with the approval of the UCT Council. An Annual Integrated Report of the Foundation’s work will be published on this website.

The GSB Foundation’s activities are funded by means of an Endowment Fund, managed as an independent entity by the Foundation. It exists purely through contributions from alumni and other philanthropic parties, both individuals and organisations. The GSB Foundation subscribes to the Fundraising Code of Ethical Principles.

The GSB Foundation has appointed Investec Philanthropy Services as Trust Managers and Investec Wealth & Investment as Portfolio Managers of the Endowment Fund.

Tiger Wessels (GSB MBA ’69) is a co-founder of UTi Worldwide. He is a founding donor and trustee of the GSB Foundation. Tiger is also involved in other educational projects at UCT.

Stewart Cohen (GSB MBA ’69), co-founder and Honorary Chairman of Mr Price Group South Africa, is a founding donor and trustee of the GSB Foundation. Stewart is also involved in social projects at the GSB’s Bertha Centre, as well as pioneering the GSB Startup School.

Dr Catherine Duggan

Dr Catherine Duggan is the Director of the UCT GSB.

Ian Reid

Ian Reid (GSB MBA ’93) is the Immediate Past Chair of the GSB Alumni Board. A mining engineer by profession and background, Ian now leads a business management and entrepreneurship consultancy.

Raymond van Niekerk

Raymond van Niekerk (GSB MBA ’96) is a consultant, motivational speaker, lecturer and ‘dragon’ equity investor in start-ups. Raymond was Investec’s Global Head of Marketing for sixteen years and is now pursuing his own ventures.

Kosta Kontos

Kosta Kontos (GSB MBA 2009/10) is current Chair of the GSB Foundation and GSB Alumni Board.
