Kosta Kontos (GSB MBA ’09–10), Chairperson: GSB Alumni Board
When I was younger, I repeatedly told myself that one day, when I was old and successful, I would help make a difference. But in my naive youth, I also convinced myself that this personal success would have to come first, before I was in a position to be able to give back.
Sound familiar?
And yet how often do we spend R100 without thinking twice about it?
Don’t get me wrong – working towards making a large and lasting impact in the future is a worthy ambition! We are GSB graduates after all, and ambition is something that we all have in common.
But giving back something small today, whilst working towards something great tomorrow, are by no means mutually exclusive.
To that end, if you are an alumnus who is wondering how you can give back starting today, I encourage you to join us on this R100-a-month quest.
It might not sound like much – but there are several thousand of us Alumni, and if we all do this together, think of the massive impact it will have on the GSB Foundation in the long run.
By donating to the GSB Foundation, you are granting talented students the opportunity to benefit from a world-class education – irrespective of their financial position – and it will take you less than 5 minutes to sign up for the monthly donation below.
Go ahead and be a part of something great.

About the R100-a-month quest
Launched in celebration of the GSB’s 50th anniversary in 2016, the R100-a-month quest is run annually by the GSB Alumni Board. It aims to persuade as many alumni as possible to contribute R100 per month to a scholarship fund.
Proceeds from this fund will be awarded annually to deserving GSB students. An amount determined by the Alumni Board will be capitalised annually into the R100-a-month fund within the GSB Endowment.
Donations to the GSB Foundation are tax deductible for South African taxpayers. Donors from other countries could also be eligible for tax benefits, see here for details.
